The Drumattic Twins are clearly obsessed with the beat of the drum and just to prove it, here’s a 12 inch dedicated to it.
Whilst the Drumattic Twins who are finishing off their new album Hammer & Tongs that’s due out in the Springtime, here’s the latest slab of rave induced breaks mayhem from Nick Slater and Kevin Lancaster (aka Lanx).
In the early 80s, they made their name as Shades of Rhythm with Rayan Gee but about 10 years ago, the pair set up Drum-Attic Records to release their own material as the Drumattic Twins. But it wasn’t long before Finger Lickin’ signed them up and they’ve been there ever since with loads of their own classic productions and tons of remixes.
And ‘Don’t Be So Drumattic’ is likely to be another with the electro beat, the less than “faint twang of” Arabic strings plus an expletive in the hook! And the ‘Sound Of The Drum’ is pure old skool hip house with serious squelch synths.
The bonus track ‘Under The Lights’ is a digital only release that funks along in a bouncy groove with a echo fuelled psychedelic vocals that spins the room with luscious strings that’s you’ll recall from the mix CD 10 Years Of Finger Lickin’; hey have these boys been touching up Professor M?
Talking of the Plumps, they of Beat Myself Up, are hosting all 3 rooms at Fabric this Friday in a Headtrash extravaganza so don’t be surprised to hear ‘Don’t Be So Drumattic’ bursting out of the speakers at some stage of the night.
