You say "the worries began with the Chris Dave solo show at Charlie Wright’s in 2009" - WTF? Nobody there at the time was at all worried by a perceived lack of structure (he played a mixture of standards and originals). Anyway, with or without Chris Dave Glasper's got his own problems.
Glad to hear he seems to be making an effort again, though it's hard to tell under the gloop of fanboyism in this review.

I for one am seriously sexed up by Kid Creole And The Coconuts. Actually probably just the Coconuts as it goes. But they are back and with a brilliant new album that just rocks. Was worried that it might by a total disaster but really happy to report it really is Kid Creole and the Coconuts. I Wake Up Screaming just me smiling from ear to ear. Brilliant!

P.S. [Wah Wah 45s] Live @ The Scala - 15th October 2011 8pm - 5pm ...last chance for £10 Earlybird

Wah Wah 45s annual party at the Scala is back who will be celebrating a year of stunning Wah Wah albums with a line up to match!

See live performances from the Colman Brothers following their eponymous debut, Stac with Blue Daisy exploring tracks from her beuatiful Turn That Light Out remix projects and Scrimshire (and VERY special guests) previewing tracks from the follow up to his 2008 debut Along Came The Devil One Night... Plus more Wah Wah favourites!

And as if that isn't enough for your TEN POUNDS (!?)...

We have legendary DJs Greg Wilson and Gilles Peterson (with the incomparable Earl Zinger) and international beatbox and vocal phenomenon The Boxettes. And thats just Room One... Phew!

In Room Two we had little choice or desire to do anything other than invite back the show stealing MUSICAL BINGO. Hangon... I'm still going...

In Room Three: Acoustic delight from Gideon Conn and a titty shakers and popcorn special from JAZZMAN GERALD and Wah Wah favourites Sampsa Vilhunen, Mickey Duke and DJ Konvex!

TEN POUNDS until midnight Sunday!?

An excellent write up and I'd have to agree, The Roots are one of the freshest and innovative Hip Hop bands around. Last years 'How I Got Over' was simply phenomenal, there were hints of 'What's Going On' throughout the album creating a somber atmosphere. It made me fall in love with Hip Hop again, a bit like how I felt listening to 'The Low End Theory' or 'It Takes a Nation' for the first time. I've been a fan since I can remember and will take this opportunity to see them.

I love Gilles Peterson's stuff and I really enjoyed Ghostpoet's album so I will definitely be checking this out. Thanks for the heads up. This a great blog by the way, a real eclectic mix of stuff right up my street.
