Buxton Opera House - FebruaryLive Music Festival

Buxton Opera House's 2005 season caught our eye for its exciting programme featuring such jazz luminaries as Courtney Pine and Andy Sheppard and the unique Nitin Sawhney.

The theatre is set in the heart of the Peak District National Park and was built in 1903. The ornate Edwardian Opera house was built to cater for wealthy tourists at the turn of the century who visited the Spa town. It now presents a varied and packedprogramme of live music, drama, opera, dance, comedy, fringe and education work.

The Opera House stands in 25 acres of ornamental gardens in the heart of Buxton, which is on the fringes of Derbyshire's Peak District.

Highlights for Spring 2005 include the FebruaryLive Music Festival. Gigs to look out for include Baluji Shrivastav: Sitar Demonstration & Talk, the Warsaw Village Band and John Etheridge -- all in February. And of course Courtney Pine, Andy Sheppard and Nitin Sawhney.
