Zero dB - Bongos, Bleeps and Basslines |

|
Zero dB are Chris Vogada and Neil Combstock, who started out six years ago on Vogada’s own Fluid Ounce label. Always a noise that was as much jazz as anything else, the pair built on the basslines with a multitude of influences. The furious Bongos, Bleeps and Basslines shows how to mix electro breaks and hip hop to please jazzdance heads (and feet). Watch out for overload on the bass bin though as it can do serious damage. This is the title track from the future album and is the first 12” release. On the b-side is ‘Know What I’m Sayin’. This gets Phase Rock (of Five Deez and recently on Spank Rock’s ‘Rick Rubin’ Remix) on a fuse of hip hop meets some free-jazz sax screech with twinkling piano. You know I love this type of thing. Great for the head nodders but no less than what we’d expect. So wait ‘till you get to hear the tracks on the next 12” ‘A pomBa Giron’ and ‘Te Guiero’. This is them on their best form and back to their Grupo Batuque ‘E Ruim’ and Suba’s ‘Samba Do Gringo Paulista’ remix excellence. Not long to wait as the release date is 12th June but ‘A pomBa Giron’ is the ‘Green Gold’ of 2006! ‘Te Guiero’ is a little laid back in comparison but even then, it’s a heavy dancefloor filler. They are a great ‘companion’ to where Daedelus has gone with his own serious Latin derivations on his new album, Denies The Day’s Demise. Can’t wait for the full album. It’s all about the 3Bs; Bongos, Bleeps and Basslines baby! Tour Dates: Hectic Mix nomination: ‘A pomBa Girou’ - massive track, in a strong Spiritual South reverence.
