|
Ghanaian musician Tic Tac is on a roll right now. Fresh from performing at the Ghanaian Independence Day concert with Stevie Wonder, the hip life star has just taken delivery of the brand new video for his hit track ‘Kangaroo’ taken from the hit new album Accra Connection. The video, directed by acclaimed US director Gil Green (director of videos for Brandy, Lil’ Jon and Akon) is the product of TV channel MTV base’s landmark video training workshop, held in Accra in August 2006, and was added to the channel’s A-list rotation on Ghanaian Independence Day, where it is being showcased to millions of music lovers across Africa. Comments a delighted Tic Tac, ‘It was so cool to be able to be part of this MTV base Video Workshop project. Having a director like Gil Green to make a video for me is something that I could never have made happen on my own. Having your video played on MTV base is what we have always aimed for and knowing that the whole of Africa will see it is a dream come true.’ Added Alex Okosi, GM and VP, MTV Networks Africa, ‘Kangaroo was shot in August 2006 as part of MTV base’s unique Making the Video initiative, which aims to share best practice and forge collaborations between local artists and directors and top international video crews. We’re delighted by the results of the project which has created a compelling, high quality and polished video that does full justice to the vision and artistry of Tic Tac.’ For those wishing to have a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what went on during the video shoot, MTV base is broadcasting a special edition of Making the Video: Tic Tac, premiering on Friday 23 March at 16:00 CAT. Commented Director Gil Green, ‘Participating in the MTV base Video Workshop in Ghana and filming videos for Akon and Tic Tac was a truly memorable experience. It was an eye opener and I really enjoyed the process of teaching the class and collaborating as a group to direct the Tic Tac video. I’m really looking forward to seeing ‘Making The Video - Tic Tac; I’m really interested to see how it turned out. I just finished shooting with Akon in Miami, for his next single ‘Don’t Matter’, but I’m looking forwards to being involved in other African projects.’ Making the Video: Tic Tac can be seen on Friday 23 March at 16:00 CAT - on MTV base. |
