UK-based JJC and Smokey of 419 Squad are amongst the guests invited. The trip comes almost a year since JJC and Smokey visited their home country, for the MTV base Africa launch in Abuja in April 2005, where they performed alongside Ludacris and 2Face. Says JJC: “The Hip Hop World Awards are another great occasion for us to visit Nigeria. I am thrilled that the Nigerian hip-hop industry finally has an Awards event they deserve. So much has been happening in the last few years and this is a great time to launch the Awards.” The Hip-Hop World Awards will be viewed by 40 million Nigerians nationwide, and 70 million television viewers across its borders. Artists of Nigerian origin from all over the world, record label executives, DJs and many more will attend. Amongst these celebrities are, from the UK, TY, JJC & Smokey and the R70 crew, Seyi Sodimu from America, VIP from Ghana and from Nigeria P-square, D’banj, Sasha, Kenny & D1 Ogungbe, KAS, OJB, Ruggedman, Jazz Man, 2Face, the Question Mark team and artists, TEEA, Basket Mouth and many more. There will also be live performances by JJC & Smokey, TY, D’banj and more. JJC and Smokey will also present an award at the event. The host for the night is Dare Art Alade. Coming exactly ten years after Hip-Hop World Magazine first made it to the stands, it was only a matter of time before the Hip-Hop World team took up the challenge to put up an awards which will be revolutionary for industry standards and would stand on a par with awards from other countries. Ayo Animashaun, publisher of Hip-Hop World magazine, has promised that the maiden edition of the Awards will show Nigerians that an internationally-acclaimed event can be hosted in Nigeria and he believes it will be known as one of the greatest milestones of the Nigerian entertainment industry. Hip-Hop World Magazine has maintained its position as the voice of the Nigerian hip-hop scene for 10 years. Its pages have been graced with interviews from superstars at home and abroad including Brenda Fassie, Akon, Lágbájá, 50 Cent, Ginuwine, Wyclef, Joe, Femi Kuti, John Legend, Maryam Makeba, Ludacris, JaRule, Chuck D, 2Face Idibia and Shaggy.
