Win Four Great Baaba Maal Albums - Competition Closed

After a truly overwhelming response, the competition has closed and the winner has been notified. Thanks for entering the competition and don’t forget there are other great competitions to enter!

win 4 baaba maal cds

Much of the Senegalese superstar’s back catalogue is being re-issued, celebrating an incredible year of events, talks and performances.

We gave away a pack of four CDs containing his masterly album with Mansour Seck Djam Leeli (1998), Lam Toro (‘92), Nomad Soul (‘88) and the exquisite Missing You (Mi Yeewnii) (2001).

Trace the evolution of the world’s most powerful voice. While the traditional Missing You (Mi Yeewnii) is probably the one CD I could not live without, his earlier albums display his openness to a wide variety of musical styles. Somehow he pulls off these crossovers in a way that very few musicians have done before or since.

All this activity is a precursor for a new CD/DVD due out soon.

The competition is closed but there is lots more about Baaba Maal on Fly.

a great new set of world music releases from Chris Blackwell, Palm Pictures and UMe. The latest release, which is in stores now, is entitled “Baaba Maal,” Senegal’s shining star - considered the voice of his people. Crafting a distinctive sound that fuses traditional African music with pop and reggae elements, Baaba Maal lead the way in what was to be termed ‘Afro-pop’. This compilation showcases the master’s music in various stages of his esteemed career.
