Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. We’re told they are an 8-piece band who have been going for 10 years in which time they have had gold and double platinum discs at home. Their third album Into The Dojo is coming out soon, so this 12” is just to cool you down in the meantime. ‘Cool Me Down’ is the most FFD of the tracks here with big horn and an uptempo summer seaside groove with disco tinges. For really serious coolin’ down, for the laid-back, check the dub version. ‘The Answer’ is not as immediate on first hearing but with the Hammond and its Marley feel, it soon wins you over. The 12” is rounded off with a corkin’ instrumental, ‘The Prince’. Not Buster or Fatty but solid dubwise skank. Regular readers will know Daniel W. Best’s Best Seven have released some brilliant records under the Sonar Kollektiv umbrella like the classic, Lightning Head album Studio Don, the FFD offshoots Joe Dukie and DJ Fitchie ‘Midnight Marauders’ and ‘The Room’ and the 7” by Chaka Domu vs. Buju Volcov, ‘Souljah’ to name just a few. If you’ve not got into Best Seven, there’s a follow up to the compilation Best Seven Selections coming soon too so that’s another to watch out for. Tour Dates July: Hectic Mix nominations: all four!
