José Orozco owes his birth and upbringing to Juan and Marta Orozco, Mexican immigrants that moved to Chicago in the mid-70s. Juan and Marta got help raising José from the Chicago Public Schools. Somehow, he survived, earned an English degree from Grinnell College, worked for a Mexican museum in Chicago, then moved to Venezuela for some fresh third world air.

Currently, he works as a freelance reporter in Caracas, covering culture mostly. He likes it. After working as an arts administrator, he's one step closer to the irremediable ostracism and poor prospects of doing something creative, whatever that means.
