Khaled Sanadzadeh

Fly feature writer, Khaled is also a globe-trotting Persian rock and electronica musician

Khaled Sanadzadeh

Born in May 1982, Khaled started music in 1999. He began as a drummer. In 2002, he did his first gig in Tehran with a rock band called Kahtmayan. After that he practically became a drum teacher. Later on, he shifted into making electronic music. Right before his last appearance in 2004, he decided to leave Iran as he thought it had nothing more to offer him and he had problems with the situation there.

He moved to India and spent a few months being surrounded by the rich ancient music there. It was in Goa, India, where he realized what electronic music, particularly psychedelic trance, was made for. After making the sound track of a documentary movie by Susan Bayani, he continued his back-packing journey to Turkey. In a similar culture to back home, but with fewer restrictions, he met and connected with various musicians from diverse parts of the world and, as they say, expanded his horizons.

At the start of 2005, he moved to Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is where he currently resides. He is studying music production and technology at the International College of Music there.
