Lydia Martin has been working as a freelance photographer in the UK and abroad for over four years, producing work for publications, online resources, non-governmental organisations, government bodies and individuals including musicians and artists, as well as working on personal projects.

She has been travelling and living abroad for the past 7 years with a particular interest in Africa and the contemporary issues facing its people.

She has recently returned from Zanzibar where she was working on a number of projects. These included a community-based sensitisation programme focusing on the realities of life for people living with HIV/AIDS and ex-substance abusers in Zanzibar and the beginnings of a new project exploring the music and dance styles of Zanzibar.
