60s Underground - Lost & Found at The Victoria & Albert Museum, London

Wednesday, August 9th sees the V&A showcase a 1960s undeground music and dance day of talks and lectures followed by a full on ska, bluebeat reggae & soul party. And in the best of 60s tradition, it’s free!

The ‘party’ sounds particualarly good as on the inside it’s Northern Soul while in the courtyard they’ll be celebrating the birth of British Sound System culture & the ‘Blue Beat’ revolution.

The party features one of original UK pioneers of the sound system The Gladdy Wax Soundsystem plus The Tighten Up Crew featuring Mistah Brown, Tim P and the mighty Champian MC and a host of DJ’s Keb Darge, Ady Croasdell, DJ Andy Smith (no doubt with a Document or two), John Cussans, Matt Stokes, The Emashie Dance Troup and Tricksta.

‘Come along and relive the moment when Jamaican Popular Music took ’60s Britain by storm: When the hot Ska rhythms and cool Rocksteady grooves of what became popularly known as ‘Blue Beat’ started a revolution that would culminate in Reggae storming the national charts and changing our musical and cultural landscape forever!’

This event is sponsored by Trojan Records so it sure to be hot.
