For those that have seen their warm-up duo sets, the combination of Annabel (lee) and Richard E is a fair way away from his work as a solo artist (‘Here Me Now’) with Solar Apple Quartette or anything else on Further Out Recordings.

Annabel (lee) is contantly inspired by the work of Edgar Allan Poe. In his renowned poem The Power of Peace she muses on the refrain ‘in a kingdom by the sea…’as she whispers from beneath the currents, ‘I shall never leave you’. Completed in their own kingdom by the sea, the piece invokes the haunting classicism of Claude Debussy and Erik Satie, intermingled with the quiet folklore of Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, drenched with the classic jazz of Miles Davis and Billie Holiday.

Annabel and Richard met via opposite sides of the globe; she, a New York-based, self-proclaimed lost creative soul, was searching for a way out of the madness of monotony, singing jazz and cabaret standards by the numbers; he, a London-based Yorkshireman, was a highly respected though discontented dance music arranger/producer who knew it was only a matter of time before he would chance upon the river of uncharted waters.
