Friday 9th June 2006: Best Kept Secret Goes Disco Cult
PEPE BRADOCK (Atavsme / FRANCE) This reclusive and demanded DJ and producer from Paris decided not to jump on the French bandwagon in the 90’s when the trademark “French Disco” sound of Daft Punk, Bob Sinclair and Stardust were climbing from basement clubs to the top of the pop charts. He held back and did his own thing. That “thing” happened to be making some of the most inspiring and lush house records that have universal and timeless appeal. “Burning”, “Life” & “Intrusion” not to mention his remixes for the likes of Blaze, Gotan Project, Cassius, Alex Gopher & Roy Ayers as well his consistent own imprint Atavisme. A rare visit to Dutch shores from the man behind a million beats.

“It was a spiritual 4 days in the Dam and Ame, Pepe Bradock, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Antal, Quantic & Nathan Haines all contributed to what was a perfect start. The stars seemed to align over the Dutch capital that weekend. The sun came out in full effect, England and Holland got of good starts in the World Cup, Fat Freddys got their massive tour bus through the narrow streets of the Dam with killing anyone (and then proceed to play 2 hours of music that absolutely knocked everyone flat - 3 people fainted man!!) .. people are still talking about the weekender 2 weeks after it happened. Watch this space for the next instalment…”.
