Bestival Festival, IOW 9-12 Sept. 2010 [Preview]

When a festival is being put together by Rob da Bank, be prepared for some extreme highs and the news that Richie Hawtin is going to be playing live as Plastikman is extreme!

Bestival2010.JPG

Hawtin joins The XX, Fever Ray (a UK exclusive appearance) on the Bestival line-up at the Robin Hill Country Park on the beautiful Isle of Wight in September.

Whilst this is a lot of a coup in itself, Hawtin joins an already impressive lineup of electronic performers, including the likes of Dixon, Flying Lotus, Seth Troxler and Ewan Pearson, plus dozens of top tier rock and pop acts.

The appearance will mark one of only two British dates in the first ever Plastikman world tour, which begins this March at the Time Warp festival in Mannheim. Following in the same vein as his 2004 Mutek performance, Plastikman’s live act will comprise roughly sixty minutes of classic material from albums like Artifakts, Sheet One and Musik, all remixed on the fly with provocative visual accompaniment by Ali Demirel, Hawtin’s longtime collaborator and director of Making Contakt, the documentary of M-nus’s 2008 tour.

Other recent additions to Bestival’s lineup include South London indie-rockers The XX and the all-mighty Fever Ray, whose eerie live performances in London and New York earned glowing reviews and who recently featured of Seth Troxler’s Boogiebytes Vol. 5.

Staying on course to deliver the closest thing to festival nirvana this side of rock’n’roll heaven, Rob da Bank and the Bestival crew are looking to make the 7th Bestival the best ever with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Flaming Lips, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem and Gil Scott-Heron already announced!

Rob da Bank says: “OK check this out for a triple whammy - my joint favourite band of last year The xx playing what will be a very rare UK festival appearance on our very own Isle of Wight, the audio-visual phenomenon that is Fever Ray with her ONLY UK festival this year and to cap it all one of the most important electronic wizards about, Richie Hawtin bringing his Plastikman guise to the Big Top. Selfishly these are three of the most played artists round the da Bank’s at the moment and if you don’t already own all the music get it now and get ready for September!”

And don’t forget! Coming soon we have the grand reveal of our fantastic fancy dress theme and some truly jaw-meets-floor type performers that we guarantee will make you do a little dance of joy when you find out who they are! So, keep checking www.bestival.net for all the action.
