Big Chill Festival Line Up - Eastnor 5-8.08.10

What with Glade Festival being postponed this week, Big Chill stepped up to the plate for free ‘transfer’ for ticket holders and announced the latest additions to the growing line-up of Big Chill acts.

The Big Chill Festival have confirm that the Texan postrock band Explosions in the Sky have been added to this year’s Big Chill Festival along with Newton Faulkner and Morcheeba.

This follows a wave of new additions in recent days, The Big Chill Festival’s line-up is starting to take shape for the 5th August and the festival’s start in Herefordshire. Only 24 hours ago the festival announced that Radiohead frontman, Thom Yorke, would be joining the stellar cast of performers including Massive Attack, M.I.A., Kelis, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Layo & Bushwacka! and recent chart topping success story Plan B. Today the Herefordshire festival has added post-rock phenomenon Explosions in the Sky, the guitar toting chanteur Newton Faulkner and Morcheeba to the bill.

Explosions In The Sky, an instrumental post-rock band from Texas will be performing on the Deer Park Stage before Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. The band has gathered huge popularity beyond the post-rock scene for their cinematic, elaborately developed guitar work, narrative-styled nstrumentals, what they refer to as ‘cathartic mini-symphonies’, and their enthusiastic and emotional live shows. The band will undoubtedly be a massive hit on Friday night.

Performing on the Deer Park Stage on the final day will be the Surrey born musician, Newton Faulkner, who shot to prominence with his debut soulful pop album Built by Robots which stormed to the top of the UK charts in 2007 with stand-out single, ‘Dream Catch Me’ one of the songs of the year. Last autumn Faulkner followed up the success of his debut album with Rebuilt by Humans, surviving the dreaded the second album syndrome. Faulkner’s performances are marked by his elaborate guitar playing style, which sees the dreadlocked singer rhythmically tapping and hitting the guitar’s body.
