Festival organisers Olivia Chapman and Franc Gooding were is a state of some shock when they were informed that their home since 2007 was not available this year but how chuffed were they to end up a mere 20 miles from the original site at West Littleton Down; and it better be good as they’ve signed up for the next three years! When this Festival was launched, I announced “If you’ve no idea what a boutique festival is, check out the huge Fly-friendly line-up at this independent set up called Bloom” (see HERE preview). Now describing itself as “The Ultimate House Party in a Field”, Bloom Festival returns this August with another almighty explosion of up-and-coming and established acts. There is an abundance of unique, special features waiting for “Bloomers” to discover - which the organisers are keeping under wraps for now but what they have let out of the bag is a folk tent in addition to the other five stages that will entertain over 6,000 festival-goers. But the best news of all is the tickets are now on sale for a very reasonable £75.00; this must be the best value for money festival tickets available this year! So what will you be listening to? “It’s with heavy hearts and great regret that we have to announce Bloom Festival 2009 will not be taking place on 14th - 16th August. However we will be back next summer - the dates and license are already confirmed at Chepstow Racecourse for August 2010.
There have been a number of obstacles that our small team have had to deal with this year - having to move site at very short notice some weeks ago and difficult economic conditions have affected us in a big way, and meant that we have been on the back foot for most of the year. Under the circumstances we feel that the best decision at this juncture is to draw a line under 2009 and concentrate on staging the event we all love so much next summer.
It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for us to make, as Bloom is an independently run organisation, built from our very heart and souls. We have worked tirelessly for the best part of nine months on this event which makes it very hard for us to walk away from it. However we have to think of the bigger picture and feel that we are making the right decision.
That said we have a number of things we can offer ticket holders so please go to http://www.bloomfestival.com/ and look at what we have put together for you.”
