Culture Jam of Contemporary UK and Brasilian Talent - London, Manchester, Edinburgh: July 28th – 30th, '06

Brasilian beer Brahma is inviting you to celebrate the spirit of Brasil this summer with TrocaBrahma. TrocaBrahma will fuse the finest in established and up and coming UK and Brasilian music talent for an exceptional series of sonic fiestas, live shows and collaborations in London, Manchester and Edinburgh, (venue details below), from July 28-30.

Bringing a fiery cast of UK stars, (including MOBO-winning hip-hop rapscallion Sway; global music guru Gilles Peterson; jazz wunderkind Soweto Kinch; and art-rock upstarts the 1990s), and a blazing range of Brasilian names (such as film and music trailblazer Seu Jorge; star of last week’s South Bank Show; electronic maverick Bruno E Sexteto; and groundbreaking vocalist Patrcia Marx), TrocaBrahma promises an effervescent culture jam of contemporary UK and Brasilian talent. The best news is that some of these incredible un-missable urban events will have FREE ENTRY.

Much of the carnival’s fruit will be borne from the TrocaBrahma Exchange: a project during which such divergent, inventive UK acts as Mark De Clive Lowe, the 1990s and Silhouette Brown (Bugz in the Attic, 4 Hero), will visit Brasil over the next few weeks to engage and create with like-minded and unlikely indigenous counterparts including Seu Jorge, Bruno E Sexteto and young sonic rabble-rousers Instituto. All of these exchange artists (full details below) will return to the UK to perform their unique UK / Brasilian collaborations for the first time in front of a live audience.

From live sets and collaborations to impromptu jams and live art; from upbeat global improv to offbeat local DJ slots, TrocaBrahma will set the city alight: all day, all night, all weekend.

To celebrate the launch of TrocaBrahma and his own ‘Back to Brazil’ compilation Gilles Peterson has created a series of six Brasilian podcasts, available throughout Summer 2006, exploring the culture and music of Brasil, downloadable from www.brahma.com/gillespeterson.
