Eliades Ochoa / Afro-Cuban All Stars - Barbican, London, 11 May '05 |

Eliades Ochoa is the last great figure of Cuban son music. He first came to international fame within the Buena Vista Social Club as the definitive interpreter of Compay Segundo's Chan Chan. Hailed by The Guardian as 'the finest guitarist of his generation', when Compay passed away and other greats of Cuban music retired, Eliades has remained holding the standard for the sweet acoustic 'son' repertoire that he has made his own. Juan de Marcos and his Afro Cuban All Stars present a stunning live concert of their brand new album Step Forward, the first release on Marcos' very own label DM Ahora! already receiving rave reviews. Band leader, composer, tres player and the brains behind Buena Vista Social Club, Marcos has assembled an awesome 15 piece band drawn from a brilliant new crop of Cuban musicians. This will be a fantastic live show that will prove beyond any doubt that Cuban music is in the rudest of health and Juan de Marcos is its finest ambassador. Barbican Hall |
