Exit Festival - Serbia, 12 - 15 July '07 |

|
The Reggae Stage will be hosted by Terratone from Brixton who will be performing at EXIT for the 5th year running. “The Serbian people are a joy to be amongst and treat everybody like royalty, the very little they have they openly share with you, it is truly touching” comments Terratones Wenti ‘Wadada’ Coke. From its humble beginnings as a student initiated project against the Milosivic regime, EXIT is now gaining international recognition and defining the new generation of young people in Serbia. It’s more than just a festival as it’s an opportunity for young people to stand up for what they believe in and do so in a creative and positive way - and above all else to party long and hard with thousands of like minded people. EXIT takes place in the historic Petrovaradin Fortress, which is built high on the banks of the River Danube and offers stunning views over the city of Novi Sad. The ancient fortress site was originally occupied by the Romans, and re-built by the Austro Hungarian Empire to defend against the Turks in the 17th Century. The Fortress site houses 18 performance arenas within the 6km sq castle complex, connected by cobbled streets, ramparts and tunnels. The dance arena is regarded by many as the best in Europe with biggest name DJ’s vying for the exclusive sunrise slot. The fortress is truly an idyllic venue with a special ambience that is felt by performers and festival goers alike. EXIT is renowned for its diverse and adventurous line ups and has a broad genre booking policy. Approximately 600 performances will take place over the 4 day event, headlined by some of the finest international artists in popular music. Artists who have already performed at Exit include; 4 Hero, Brand New Heavies, Cypress Hill, Dizzee Rascal, Killa Kela, Krafty Kuts & MC Dynamite, Neneh Cherry, Niten Sawhney and Radio 1’s Fabio & Bailey. COMMENTS Yep, EXIT is really impressive, especially considering that 6 or 7 years ago, almost no top acts would consider playing in Serbia. I wrote a little bit about EXIT on my blog from more of an inside perspective, as a Brit living in Serbia: http://www.itsgottabered.com/MTB-Serbia/about-serbia/things-to-see-in-serbia/the-exit-festival-novi-sad/ |
