If you want a glimpse into the future of a platinum selling artist and don't wanna pay £20 for the privilege, then this could be your last chance to do so with New York band Heavy. Compared to everyone from Gwen Steffani, Outkast & N*E*R*D and adored by Pharrell from the Neptunes, this is black music from a different planet, a different solar system. Having had their debut release -- 'Heavy EP' with uber-hip Dutch label Kindred Spirits -- this band have attracted universal praise from both the under and over ground. Gilles Peterson gave them a live Maida Vale session in November of last year and with live performances in the UK and across Europe, they have been causing message boards, forums and gossip columns to wee their pants at the prospect of seeing them live. Or so I am told. Thurs 24th Feb : Cargo, Shoreditch, London : 7 PM - 1 AM : £6 |

The ‘very special U.S. guest’ is…Ms. Alison Crockett with a PA performance previewing tracks from her forthcoming remix album “The Return of Diva Blue”. The album features remixes from the likes of King Britt, Yam Who? and DJ Spinna. They say. “‘The Return of Diva Blue’ twists, preens and funk-a-fies the raw materials from Alison’s already transcendent debut album ‘On Becoming A Woman’ into new realms of sonic perfection…” That’s a strong line up for £6.00.
