Lovebox are excited to reveal its Saturday night headliner as Sly & The Family Stone. London’s ground-breaking music festival welcomes one of music’s true innovators: the band that championed black and white integration and fused soul and rock music with psychedelia and what’s more the line-up includes many of the original roster such as Lisa Stone and Cynthia Robinson. “You can’t beat London as the hippest place on the planet, the Lovebox Weekender was proof of that” Hosted by Groove Armada the festival will celebrate the anniversary of the Summer Of Love with main stage live performances from Sly & The Family Stone, Blondie, The B-52’s, Tinariwen, Hot Chip, Soul II Soul Soundsystem, The Rapture, Patrick Wolfe, Super Furry Animals, Nouvelle Vague, The Presets and Junior Boys. Fresh from the success of their new album ‘Soundboy Rock’, Groove Armada will close the festival on Sunday night. Being music fanatics, the team behind Lovebox have booked a super eclectic line-up of established acts and cutting-edge break-through talent from indie, pop, rock, folk, Latin, baile funk, hip hip, techno, electro, punk funk, disco, country, rock & roll and reggae. “Tinariwen are happy to be in the box of love with the people of London. As the Touareg say ‘the world is a big tent, with plenty of room for all’” Hence highlights away from the main stage include Ojos De Brujo, K’Naan, Toots & The Maytals, Malcolm Middleton, Good Shoes, Tiny Dancers, Mr Hudson & The Library, Don Letts, New Young Pony Club, Blood Red Shoes, Who Made Who, Pull Tiger Tail, Ska Cubano, Tunng, Candi Payne, DJ Diplo, Buraka Som Sistema, Bonde Do Role, Daddy G from Massive Attack, Dennis Alcapone, Adem, Rowenta Cash, Dynamo’s Rhythm Aces, Rub N Tug, and Joey Negro playing an exclusive ’70s disco set. Last year was a blast. Shame that they’re not giving Mr Peterson his own tent again - I think it would only have been stronger this time round.
