Lovebox Weekender - London 21st and 22nd July '07

Lovebox are excited to reveal its Saturday night headliner as Sly & The Family Stone. London’s ground-breaking music festival welcomes one of music’s true innovators: the band that championed black and white integration and fused soul and rock music with psychedelia and what’s more the line-up includes many of the original roster such as Lisa Stone and Cynthia Robinson.

“You can’t beat London as the hippest place on the planet, the Lovebox Weekender was proof of that”
Gilles Peterson

Hosted by Groove Armada the festival will celebrate the anniversary of the Summer Of Love with main stage live performances from Sly & The Family Stone, Blondie, The B-52’s, Tinariwen, Hot Chip, Soul II Soul Soundsystem, The Rapture, Patrick Wolfe, Super Furry Animals, Nouvelle Vague, The Presets and Junior Boys. Fresh from the success of their new album ‘Soundboy Rock’, Groove Armada will close the festival on Sunday night.

Being music fanatics, the team behind Lovebox have booked a super eclectic line-up of established acts and cutting-edge break-through talent from indie, pop, rock, folk, Latin, baile funk, hip hip, techno, electro, punk funk, disco, country, rock & roll and reggae.

“Tinariwen are happy to be in the box of love with the people of London. As the Touareg say ‘the world is a big tent, with plenty of room for all’”
Tinariwen

COMMENTS

Last year was a blast. Shame that they’re not giving Mr Peterson his own tent again - I think it would only have been stronger this time round.
