To go with this release we have an amazing piece of animation by Nuno Costa which gives you a good idea of what visual show will be like that will accompany Padded Cell’s Live performance with Dennis Young at Death Before Distemper on 21st June (see review of Death Before Distemper album HERE). The original of ‘Word Of Mouth’, with vocals by ChloĆ© Raunet (she of electro rockers Battant), is taken from Padded Cell’s latest album Night Must Fall and there’s an extended version of the gothy synth-pop electro groover on the 12”. We’ve not seen The Glimmers since their remix of Roxy Music’s ‘Same Old Scene’ but of the three versions, I prefer the one by the improbably named Binary Chaffinch. No surprise really it’s a s Milo Smee (who founded Sun Ra inspired metal disco proggers ‘Chrome Hoof’) with his brother Leo and co-hort of The Oscillation (aka Demian Castellanos) who is also on DC Recordings. Padded Cell are playing a live gig tonight at Fopp Records, 1 Earlham Street WC2, Covent Garden so I’d try and get there early as they will be performing at 8pm with Depth Charge playing records before and after; and it’s FREE! Just a quick word to say thank you to everyone who came to the DC cosmic extravaganza on Saturday in London. The musical performances where astounding and we were delighted to meet so many fans of DC Recordings who had crossed space and time to be there. We particularly wish to salute the select few who did dress up as animals.
The Emperor Machine Live show will be moving to France tomorrow bringing the sensational live experience to Fiasco System in Paris:
Respect.
