When Alice Russell found out Joe Bataan was coming to London she was straight onto …Broadcasting’s Karen P to get involved so she’ll be singing backing vocals alongside Joe Bataan’s wife.

And this is Joe Bataan’s first ever UK performance! He’ll be promoting the new CD by Joe Bataan & Los Fulanos King Of Latin Soul

In another last minute addition, Red Bull Music Academy past-participant and Kidulthood soundtrack star Goldielocks will be playing a warm-up slot before Willie-Isz take the stage in the main room!

And in the Cargo Garden, there’s an early evening party featuring music from Red Bull Music Academy past participants Andreya Triana (a last seen on Tru-Thoughts Shapes 09:01 compilation), Jamie Woon and a Bar-b-Q ‘performance’ from the legendary Dante’s Fried Chicken (and get there early as there’ll be 250 free meals served on a first come first served basis).

As if that wasn’t enough, Emma Warren will be hosting a listening party and interview session in the bar where up and coming dubstep star Silkie (Deep Medi) will be on the couch, sharing some exclusive upfront cuts from his forthcoming City Limits Vol.1.

And to top it all off, Stones Throw’s James Pants is supporting with his Arabian Prince influenced Cosmic Rapp meets Eyptian Love 12” (out on Monday) and his brilliant album of last year, Welcome. Pants has said of the headliner, “Joe Bataan has got to be one the most on-point artists in the game, and someone I have a tremendous amount of respect for. Latin soul, salsa, disco, rap-o-clap-o, lowrider ballads, and funk with a career spanning forty years… How many people can pull that off!? I look forward to busting down some deadly cowbell for this show.”

Both men have been guest lecturers at Red Bull Music Academy before - Joe Bataan in Melbourne and James Pants in Barcelona 2008. As artists from different generations, genres and parts of the world, coming together to create unique music, their collaboration is what both Broad Casting and the Red Bull Music Academy are all about and is set to be an historic and memorable evening at London’s Cargo.

Note: James Pants and Joe Bataan will perform tracks from both of their repertoires and will be joined on stage by musicians from the UK’s foremost Latin Jazz and Salsa outfit; Grupo X. Formed by trombonist/composer Jonny Enright, Grupo X combine the raw-edged sounds of ’60s and ’70s Latin New York with more contemporary dance-floor influences.
