Stac - Turn That Light Out, Vibe Bar 19.06.10

You can turn out the lights at the Vibe Bar as the Stac album launch party will be road blocking the famous Brick Lane area tomorrow (19th June) but if you can’t make it, get the album Turn That Light Out so that you’re on it before that Peterson bloke.

WahCD013Party.jpg

It’s been an odd time for Wah Wah 45’s this year as there was the tragically sad passing of Simon Goss at the turn of the year. And then, the Simon Says… celebration at the Jazz Cafe where the great and good of the Wah Wah 45s label and friends turned out to raise awareness of cancer charites and have a great time to boot listening to cover versions of some of Simons’ favourite tunes.

It seems only the other day that current Wah Wah 45s leader, Dom Servini (AFC fan and all round good bloke) was taking control at the Emanative gig at Falva Chic (see review HERE) and now there’s the release of Dom’s current favourite, Stac. How do I know? Well, I bumped into him this week in Sounds of the Universe shop off Berwick Street with Adam Scrimshire (whose album Along came the Devil one Night that came out last year that’s well worth another listen: “Get on it” as Gilles Peterson has said).

Anyway, after a bit of arm twisting, the Turn That Light Out CD is now in the FLY office and once you’ve been impressed by Chiyo Arae’s artwork, the music is even better (see full review HERE).

Supporting Stac will be Woon (aka Jamie Woon) who was last scene on FLY last year (at Cargo and see interview HERE) and is now apparently signed to Polydor! Not only that, there’s DJ support from Blue Daisy, LenAfrosaxon and Pause (who’ve all remixed Stac of late) and Dom himself.

And if you can’t make that, see you down at Phoncia Monday night.
