The Return Of Gagarin - Belgrade

When Cosmic Sounds boss throw as party, he throws a big one.

Cosmic Fly

To celebrate his landmark birthday and ten years of ‘The Return Of Gagarin’ (TROG), Bitef Art Café hosted a big ‘cosmic’ party this weekend for Zeljko Kerleta.

Just in case your Serbian is a little rusty, “Dvojac bez kormilara” are Coxless Pair (this is just an English translation) who will be supported by a host of deck masters; DJ Sampsa Vilhunen, DJ Pepe (Late Nite Production), DJ Chile (who you’ll be hearing from shortly via Fly), DJ Aki (Loud Minority), Tatomir (Transglobal Jazz Lounge), Jazz Mate (Tudo Beleza and remember his interview and mix with Gilles Peterson at last years’ Exit Festival?), Space Walker and Mr. Cosmic himself.

Whilst all that is going on, TROG seems to go from strength to strength as Zeljko keeps coming up with just great jazz and funk on his first hour. The guest spots this year have been equally high standard with Paul Murphy (Afro Art), Arkestra One (Cosmic Sounds) and Richard E (Further Out Recordings).

The first hearing is a ‘terrestrial’ broadcast on B-92 radio from Belgrade. Find out more about B-92, Cosmic Sounds and Zeljko with the interview for Fly).

The Cosmic Sounds website has archives of this years’ TROG at the moment (see the links below). Also check the myspace.com sites for even more wonderful sounds.

By coincidence, I am hoping to announce some exciting news here soon so keep tuning in but in the meantime, many happy returns and have a great party.
