Os Mutantes & Nação Zumbi

A truly unmissable event; this concert reunites original members of the psychedelic rock legends Os Mutantes; Sergio and Arnaldo Baptista, bassist Liminha and drummer Dinho performing classic material for the first time since 1973. They are joined by very special guests tba. The evening is opened by Pernambuco’s Nação Zumbi - one of the most thrilling bands to emerge from Brazil in the last decade. Disciples of late Chico Science their powerful guitar and drum roots informed rock, espouses the very essence of the Tropicalia ethos.

Gilberto Gil e Grupo

Hot on the heels of the Tropicalia season, Brazil’s coolest Minister of Culture returns to the Barbican with his inimitable combination of rock, roots, samba and reggae. Ever experimental, Gil’s performances are driven by the same passion and vitality that propelled him to stardom almost 40 years ago.

Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker (Dance)
Tuesday 25th – Saturday 29th April, ‘Knot’, Barbican Theatre
Deborah Colker, the Olivier Award-winning Brazilian choreographer, returns to the Barbican following previous successful runs during BITE:03, BITE:02 and BITE:00. This time, her company of 16 energetic dancers perform its newest piece, Knot, exploring the theme of desire.
