UK Hip-Life Festival - The Stratford Rex, 18 October '08

The aim of the Hip-Life Festival which has been celebrated in UK for the past three years is to exhibit the Ghanaian brand of Hip hop called Hip-Life which speaks to the youth more than any other musical form

UK Hip-Life Festival - The Stratford Rex, 18 October '08

Hip-Life music is an innovative Ghanaian fusion of highlife and hip-hop. Since its inception around 1998, into Ghanaian music, it has undergone various metamorphoses through language, hardcore rap to a more refined rhythm and eschewed any negative tendencies to command the greatest respect in our social fiber today. It has now transcended over the borders of the country receiving a major boost along the West Coast of Africa and abroad, especially in the United Kingdom where the genre has been well accepted by Ghanaians and other nationals due to its uniqueness.

This is one event that is designed to meet the aspirations of music lovers of Ghanaian descent to participate in the Festival and witness the hottest Ghanaian artists do their thang!

This year’s line-up is a mixture of great talent to make the celebration unique and tantalizing and promises to be the best so far. For the first time since the musical Jamboree started in 2006, Hip-Life heavyweights like, SYDNEY whose latest track “Africa Money – Oga De Chop” is riding high, 4×4 of “Hotgirls.com” fame, EBO the new Hip-life sensation, CASTRO with his current blockbuster single “Eye Mufe”and the entertaining NKASEI doing their classic hip-life tune “Tuobodom” with set the stage alight with their firing live performances! Representing the UK will be the talented NTATIA. More UK flavour to be confirmed.

The show will be hosted by the sizzling and gorgeous Melissa (Ghanaian Princess) and Eddie Kadi (Africa’s Funniest comedian). The hottest Ghanaian DJ’s and MC’s who are expected to thrill the crowd are DJ Alordia, Abrantee, Big L, Bibi and Amita my sweet Babe of the airwaves as well as Clarke Pintoa

The stage is set for another musical explosion and the event will take place on Saturday 18 October 2008 at The Stratford Rex, 361-375 Stratford High Street, Stratford, London E15 4QZ. Doors open from 10pm and the party ain’t done til 5am.The damage is a mere £12.50 in advance and more at the door.

As per usual, all artists are confirmed and guaranteed so come and celebrate at one of biggest events in the Ghanaian event calendar. If you love your Ghanaian music, you’ll be crazy to miss out! NO LONG TING.!

I was at the Ghana at 50 event at the Stratford Rex and I didn’t see or hear about ANYONE being attacked? Especially as the venue has plenty of bouncers - more than 10!

Like all Ghanaian events, I’m sure the dress code is traditional and normal dress so your kente outfit should be fine
