For fans of 2econd Class Citizen you might have preferred remix versions of ‘One By One’ that’s more folky inspired instrumental hip-hop with a cinematic bent. That said, the remixes of ‘Step Inside’ certainly take the original into a club fuelled party “fantazmorgial carnival ride”.

Well that what Playpad Circus (aka Christian Fischer) calls it anyway as he moves to a mysterious Jean Michele Jarre was doing Moulin Rouge on downers. But even more out there is Earthkeptwarm from London who dubsteps it down a dirty bassbin of revelation. It’s an interesting counter-point to you’re big name dubsteppers but follows along the lines of the Burial and Four Tet collaboration, ‘Moth’.

For those with good memories, Lewis Parker was the ‘next big thing’ a while back and anyway Canteen Records’ Bias was involved with Parker’s productions and he turns up here with a funky hip-hop remix; this is definitely one for the mixtapes.

Zeon is French and manages to get a drum and bass version out of this one that is some achievement; not exactly Danny Byrd or Mistabishi but a different d’n’b twist and a useful tool in the box.

2econd Class Citizen has clearly moved on from his Wyred Folk EP that came out a couple of years ago. And teaming up with Ceshi Ramos (who has worked with West Coast underground favourites Myka 9, Pigeon John, Busdriver and 2Mex) on ‘One By One’ is so “pyschedelic cosmic love from California”

I’m mesmerised by the ‘One By One’ track but real DJ’s will need the Remix EP; listen to the man, “Ladies and Gentlemen, pay your dime and step inside”.
