It certainly is a “Brilliant” collage of leftfield synth-pop, ballad and percussive feel-good beach party disco/house.

The CD opens up with cinematic ‘Maudy Thursday’ before they the synth up rasta and birdsong samples(!) that under pin the vocals of Teresa Jaksetič & Elisabet Sjögren. ‘Collapsing At Your Doorstep’ continues in the same Future Loop Foundation Sunshine Philosophy vain and it’s a shame they didn’t have the weather when they did the video for ‘No Excuses’

‘Beach Party’, ‘No Way Down’ and ‘Karbien’ are more white sand sunset boogie but these ‘pilots’ don’t like to hang around a groove too long as ‘Windmill Wedding At Trade Wins’ is modern classical Axelrod (with a video to match a soft focus choclate Flake advert).

Rough Trade are big fans as they’ve made it Album Of The Month already and with an Air France remix of ‘Skeleton Boy’ for band of the moment, Friendly Fires just out on 12”, it’s bound to create a buzz around the album.
