Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Andy Votel has been concentrating on his acclaimed series Folk Is Not A Four Letter Word but has drop this new collection Vintage Voltage which is a return to his usual mixtape brilliance. From prog-rock tea pot heads to JP Massiera (often called ‘The French Joe Meek’), the Gaslamp Killer of the north has dug deep into his vast vinyl and added his own touches of “global cinematic influences and spoken word cassettes and radio snippets” - it’s like Jonny Trunk on acid. Without a tracklisting, you won’t have any idea who/what is on this CD, but you can rely on Votel getting it spot on to provide “Plugged-In-Prog & Conrete Pop” (whatever that is). Expertly mixed as you’d imagine, Andy Votel is FLY’s favourite DJ of “Global Robotic Rock” and as Egon (of Stones Throw) says, “Votel’s mixes make me weep”; we know what he means, this is poptastic.
