Ape School - Wail To God |

After the latest single from Pop Levi (‘Police $ign /Terirfying’) and the ultra wonderful ‘Sixteen’ by The Heavy, we’re told that it was our main man Daedelus that discovered the Ape School and Counter were more than happy to sign them up. And when I say ‘them’, Ape School is primarily Michael Johnson (as in ex-Lilys, ex-Holopaw, current Professor of Acousmatics and Daedelus’ ‘Make It So’ and ‘Fair Weather Friends’), as he composed, engineered, mixed, produced and performs all the instruments on this EP. The Ape School sound is a mix of “a sweeping palate of sound conjured from archaic electronics” that underlies Johnson’s distinctive vocals in a sort of early Bowie fused with early Daedelus and Carlos Niño flavoured “pyschedelic cosmic love from California”. The Ape School album is coming out soon and it’s going to another big one for the summer.
