Billy Newton-Davis Vs. Deadmau5 - All You Ever Want

It’s the bloke with the ears and they are so tuned into what moves the big room, he’s back with the vocal talents of Billy Newton-Davis to give you 12 inches of all you ever wanted in your dreams!

From the opening “All my dreams…(echo)” and the big clean electro synth bang you know exactly where this electro-tech-house stormer is going and the king of Play, Deadau5 doesn’t let us down with ‘All You Ever Want’.

Deadmau5 (pronounced ‘Deadmouse’ and aka Joel Zimmerman) has teamed up with Billy Newton-Davis to challenge his last huge hit ‘Faxing Berlin’ (as featured on last years’ At Play album). Like Tom Belton’s ‘Irresistible’, you know what’s coming with the original mix but it doesn’t make it any the less compelling. Already big with Deadmau5’s champion Pete Tong plus Tiga, Ed Banger types, and Erol Alkan) it’s going to be an all-summer long tune.

On the remix, first up is Dutch producer and composer, Arjuna Schiks who had his solo break through last year with ‘Afterbelle’ and another hit, ‘Konijntje’ with his re-hab buddy Willie Wartaal as the duo aka The Junkies. His remix is in techy dub electro glitch ‘Konijntje’ area (but without the warped bunny vocals) and arguably the most adventurous of the remixes on offer.

And an even newer name to drop, Nino Anthony turns in a minimal-big (if there is such a thing) electro house mix (not sure about that one), the J Tease is more mainstream once it gets going and Jackson Q goes for a synthed-out approach.

Of the download mixes, the Deadmau5 All My Dreams Mix the best of the lot as it’s more of an electro-tech dub that’s still a big tune even without most of the vocal.

Yalp is Play Records’ house imprint and Mr. Newton-Davis (who has worked with such legends as Eartha Kitt, Jocelyn Brown and Gloria Gaynor) is in the process of finishing off his debut album that will be released on Yalp later this year which sounds very promising.

As they say, “nothing new” but that doesn’t mean it’s one to ignore, in fact, its All You Ever Want.
