Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Boozoo Bajou are the duo Peter Heider and Florian Seyberth. We loved their eclectic takes of ‘Take It Slow’ last year from the very impressive Dust My Broom album. Confusingly, ‘Juke Joint II’ is the first release from Volume II of the Boozoo Bajou mix CD Juke Joint. The original version of ‘Back Up’ is in New York Hip Hop style with a heavy bass that makes you back up against the wall. Thankfully the house-dancehall joint is saved for the ‘Drumwick Mix’ which is a big on the synth bounce whilst the ‘Ruff’ mix exactly what it says, ruff ‘n’ ready. The one that really got me excited is the ‘Der Pflug mix’ that sounds like they’ve gone into a bathroom the size of an Olympic sized swimming pool. This is an ambient dub we love with great echo on the plug sounds. This is so big it’s the equivalent of David Walliams swimming the channel for Sport Relief last week. Not sure how ‘Back Up’ forms part of Juke Joint the CD but the 12” is essential for Der Pflug. Hectic Mix nomination: Back Up (Der Pflug) Reviewed: Boozoo Bajou - ‘Juke Joint II EP’ (!K7) 12” Release date 24th July 2006 Links |
