Border Crossing - 'City of Love' |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. ‘City Of Love’ featuring Rick Rankin on vocals has a touch of Fat Freddy Drop to it but it’s not long before we get some dubbed up west London beats with added harp break; now that’s not going to happen too often and it makes ‘Jump Down (In This)’ definitely my record of the week. And if you think that’s a bit different, ‘Rhumba Medley’ goes wobbly bass bounce and it’s almost guaranteed to be a Mr.Scuff favourite. Look out for those lovers style vocals from Vicky Virtue. It’s about time we had some ‘modern’ reggae in the UK to take on those Kiwis, Austrians and Germans. I need to find out more about this lot; no details on the Kartel website at the moment, “Border Crossing info coming soon”. Thanks to Heidi at Phonica for pointing this one out (and while I’m at it, they’ve got the essential Mulatu Astatke’s 10” on Soundway back in stock).
