Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. This is a guaranteed ghetto dancecore winner as Andro Carvalho, João Barbosa, Rui Pité (aka Buraka Som Sistema) give the sound of Kuduro some bass and some MIA attitude. The two-part Portuguese, one-part Angolan trio re-invented the techno Kuduro sound after a pilgrimage to Angola and a €50 video; the one with all the street kids body poppin’. Surprise to see no Diplo on the remix (see Decent Work For Decent Pay, Vol. 1 but when you can call in Ed Banger’s DJ Mehdi and upstart Drop The Lime, that makes for a fun 12” in anyone’s books. Drop The Lime hitting out after remixes for Toro Y Moi and Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip gets industrial warehouse sized buzzin’ bee dubstep-tech. Strange then that DJ Mehdi’s ‘Sound Of Terror’ is quite light by comparison as it’s more cinematic. That said, current favourite is Lil’John’s Moonwalk BITA bounce mix that you can’t help movin’ to; drop! But there’s no stopping Diplo as he’s the funk-carioca legend headlines Bestival’s Big Top this year on the Saturday night with his Mad Decent Soundsystem with the Buraka Som Sistema; that sounds a must. The debut album Black Diamond is also out now and includes sampled speeches on Angola’s diamond mining industry. Reviewed: Buraka Som Sistema - Sound Of Kuduro (Fabric) Cat. No: 12fab003 Links: |
