Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Only recently reminded of Cobblestone Jazz with the Konrad Black Watergate 03 and then we get news that there’s going to be a follow up album to 2007’s debut 23 Seconds. After a batch to 12s on thier Wagon Repair label out of Vancouver, the trio of Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate and Tyger Dhula created a big buzz with their improvised mix of deep techno house and future jazz. Since then the trio have been joined by Colin de la Plante and before we get the second album The Modern Deep Left Quartet, the group re-surfaces with a limited edition 12” with two versions of a track called ‘Chance’. Like their other best work, the jazzy keyboard melody (here provided by Danuel Tate on Fender Rhodes piano) gets into the house groove (particularly on the dub version); the original is a bit more urgent on the beat but jazzier on the keys. The 12” comes with usual high standard cover artwork and there’s some forthcoming European gigs to come with the album release - hopefully, see you at Fabric.
