Fans of these two will be expecting big things to match My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts from 1981. Byrne is best known as the lead singer of Talking Heads but is as much revered of late for promoting world music on his own Luaka Bop label with artists such as Silvio Rodriguez, Susana Baca, Domenico+2, Kassin+2 and Jim White to mention just a handful.

So whilst Mr. Eno is often found in the realms of U2 and Coldplay, we can forgive him as the teh former Roxy Music star and “founder of ambient music” is equally likely to be promoting world music with his mate Rachid Taha or producing Grace Jones’ comeback album Williams’ Blood.

Experimental avantguarde funk is not what it used to be as this is more at the rock end of what we loved them for; even soft rock! I suppose it comes with age and let’s face it, the back catalogue is full of dance friendly tracks.

Leo Abrahams (he of his own solo album The Grape And The Grain that’s recently been released) features on half the album and then there’s the multi-talented Seb Rochford who also appears on some tracks, even old Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera turns up on guitar ‘drone’ but it’s all seems a bit of a past-glory reflective swan song to me. Probably a great laugh for the two Bs and let’s hope it’s better performed live.

David won’t be dusting of the ‘Ol Baggy Suit (apparently the original baggy suit is in the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame) but not only is he headlining at the Big Chill Festival this year, loads more dates have been announced (as below), but how does it go? Watching the days go by….
