D.J. Bang - The B.E.A.T.

Obsessed with the B.E.A.T? Add some DJ Bang and you’re B.E.A.T mad; with some remixes from old favourites to boot.

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

“B.E.A.T., B.E.A.T., B.E.A.T., B.E.A.T., B.E.A.T.” etc from the original mix is what you’d expect from old skool hip-hop funk house. Just a never ending groove with a J. Arthur Rank gong; this D.J. is serious. In fact, it’s something to do with Anu Pillai from Freeform Five and this is the best I’ve heard from them since ‘Eeeeaaooww’.

Derrick Carter for one is a long-time fan and if you’re after bang for your buck, you’ve got it all here with the remixes. The original version is good but the Freeform Five remix is extreme funk disco WOW! factor like it was 1978, 1988, 1998 and 2008 all in one. It’s a hustle, it’s a jam, it’s a nightmare. Crossover heaven for the car wash generation that’s going to be so big even Pete Tong will explode. Music snobs get your head outta ya A and B-boy boogie ‘til you drop; and there’s some jazz-funk horn at the end! This is going to be big.

The duo No Assembly Firm used to be called “No Assembley Required” but the new moniker does not affect their take on house but I’ve no idea who Brian Heath is I’m afraid. That said, his ‘Basic Press’ version gets me every time as its full of electro bleep pharts with more of that glorious gong. I must admit that I’m rather drawn to the simplicity of this on with the manic Sid Jameseque laugh, get ready for a dancefloor eruption.

Riva Starr fresh from his tour of Oz, the Pirate Robot Midget remix of ‘It’s My Beat Now’ (do I see a pattern here?), a remix for friend of FLY Daniel Haaksman (‘Who´s Afraid Of Rio?’) and a certain P. Tong’s enthusiasm for his Fatboy Slim rework of ‘Rockafella Skank’ (aka Rockafella Starr - one for the next Fatboy Slim’s Greatest Hits Remixed), puts in another corker here. This guy is so hot; be prepared if you’re off to see him at O2 tonight for the Southern Fried Mobile Disco.

After Playdoe’s It’s That Beat, this is the beat you can’t B.E.A.T that needs repeat. Demand so high that release date brought forward!
