First things first, a couple of bits of house keeping; yes the vocals are by that Andrew Roachford (he of British funk-rock-soul band Roachford that he formed in 1987 that toured with Terence Trent D’Arby and The Christians within a year and went onto sign a 7-album recording contract with Columbia before they new it) and, no it’s not a lamer track than Cliff Richard’s ‘Devil Woman’.

As long time fans of The Good Doctor (aka Simon Ward - see HERE at the time of the release of his album My Life At 33) it’s been too long to hear the Rubberfunk beats since the Sunset Breakup EP as we can really count the cameo appearance on DJ Food’s One Man’s Weird Is Another Man’s World in the summer.

So it’s even better that in addition to coming up with the coup of Mr. Roachford (who’s on fine form himself) but there’s remixes by an innovator of the ‘cut and paste’ style of DJ mix that influenced the likes of Coldcut, Steinski and the guy that celebrated the 20th release on Goodgroove Records recently with the killer 12”, The Artist Series XI, Featurecast.

The original version of ‘Trouble Woman’ is very clean R&B, funk-soul with a big bassline groove that’s ideal for radio plays. It’s a track taken from the forthcoming album Hot Stone so we’ll definitely be getting into that one soon but the funky breaks guys are going to love the Steinski remix.

And then on the flip, Featurecast (aka Lee Mintram) who has appeared on Home Breakin’ Records (on Funktransplant’s What Is Funk EP), Jalapeno Records and Fort Knox Records in addition to Goodgroove (you get the idea) gets on the remix of with a rather out of character d’n’b mix. And just to keep you on heat, there’s a Featurecast dub version to boot!

I got a feeling in my heart that the album’s going to be great as this is a proper Dr. Rubberfunk come back.
