Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Helena Wood sings on ‘The Rooster’, which has some great acid jazz organ and sax on it but one of the big tracks is the liquid meld of breaks, jazz, funk, Latin and George Benson style guitar licks on ‘Baby Bossa’. After a hard day, relax with ‘All Day Playing’ which features some lovely flute and acoustic guitar. In a similar vein of chill, ‘Minus Three & Falling’ is anything but cold. It’s laid back and features a warm sax solo by Ben Castle. In fact, Mr. Castle, who has recently appeared on Dani Sicilliano’s new album, is a star on flutes and sax thoroughout My Life At 33. There’s a unique ‘feel’ to this album, with (the brilliant), ‘Riding With The Ratman’ sitting in-between ‘All Day Playing’ and ‘Blow Away The Grey’ (with yet another ‘nurse’ on vocals, Fiona Rowden. The other tracks that have previously been released on 12”, ‘Watch The Tables Turn’/‘Live Wired’ are still sounding strong. And before you leave the surgery, there’s an odd little hidden instrumental track at the end. Life At 33 is far better than any pills, now go and put that needle on. Hectic Mix nominations: ‘Father’s Lament’, Theme For A Latter-day Lothario’, ‘Riding With The Ratman’, ‘Baby Bossa’ and ‘All Day Playing’.
