Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. D. Ramirez is as big as most get in the techno house underground DJing arena and on the production front. So a good choice for the first in this new series called Headliners? I’d say! Now we know Florian Meindl is a fan and he’s as much in demand as a remixer (paritcular the Plump DJs’ Electric Disco) but if you’re stll not convinced, you won’t be long into this collection before you’ll be converted. CD1 is a bit of warm up; sometimes busy minimal, techno, house, tech house but all setting the scene by the time of the Skylark mix of Muzik Xpress’ by X-Press 2 it’s really big tune time. This track is already on The Shapeshifters’ In The House and leads into a climax of allsorts of war lord ping-pong battles with rocket ships and arcade games before Paul Woolford’s mix of ‘Sun In My Eyes’ blinds our retinas with sound. Now if it’s not enough, CD2 is harder if anything with some of our favourites like Mike Monday (‘Hello Nest’ is the one for fans of Bees), that man Oliver Klein (again) and Radio Slave (again), Great Stuff’s Butch (look out for the forthcoming album Papillon) and some D.Ramirez exclusives! The CD builds up to his lastest hit with Dirty South (‘Shileld’) and the last track is a mix featruing his the vocals of his hit ‘Freaque On’ by Pete Simpson; blimey, he’s worked with some people (see latest review of Part-time Heroes Meanwhile… for a roll call). The second CD leaves you exhausted (like a good night out should) and shows why D. Ramirez is always ever busy as a DJ. The album launch is at London’s Pacha 11th October with more dates around Europe to follow. Don’t stay in if he’s in your town. Reviewed: Various - Azuli Presents D.
