Dusty Kid - 'Signal '63' EP |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. The lead track ‘I Love Richie’ may be “hard grooving techno” but it’s the jazzy electro dub of ‘Cowboys’ that got me excited. Dusty Kid is Paolo Lodde from Italy who was formerly part of Duoteque. Clearly as bonkers as he is talented, this EP is a signal of a brilliant album to come. Perhaps the best thing about the EP is that none of the four tracks sound alike. ‘Mantrakoma’ is a hospital heart rate monitor with distorted vocals that you could put under “experimental”; unless you can speak German backwards that is. And to finish it off, ‘The Riot’ is hard synth Scalelectrix. Also worth noting are the great covers to Kling Klong releases, especially like Mijk van Dijk’s ‘Closer’/’Wider’. Hectic mix nominations: The Riot, I Love Ritchie (for headbangers in search of a headache) / Mantrkoma, Cowboys (for the cosmic jazz heads) Reviewed: Dusty Kid — Signal `63 EP (Kling Klong) Cat.
