Electric Conversation - 'Dancing' / 'Vibe Change'

If you are a regular reader, you’ll know at Fly we have a thing about the going for the French and any modern soul, jazz and hip hop. So you can imagine, when the two come together, we are going to get really excited. Electric Conversation are worth getting excited about

Electric Conversation

I can tell you from first hand experience that Electric Conversation know their music. There’s nothing fishy about this, but a few minutes with them digging in Berwick Street vinyl boutiques, you can see that K-Ro (vocals), Oz (vocals/producer) C.L&ment and Cris know what they are looking for.

And with that musically knowledgeable background, Electric Conversation talk to you with the lyrics and the music. What with the live drumming, the Serengeti wood block and the steam train synth this is just a Hectic heavenly together with a nod to Ursula Rucker with K-Ro’s rap, it puts hip-hip and neo-soul, jazz in one dancefloor mash.

And even better, the b-side goes all liquid funk on us and bubbles of Sa-Ra space travel in a dream world. It’s an awesomely stunning performance and a must buy.

Talking of which, you can buy this 12” at the Sounds Of The Universe shop (off Berwick St in nearby Broadwick Street), HMV Oxford Street, Piccadilly (Manchester), 12” (Paris) HMV, DMR (Tokyo) and Dusty Groove (Chicago) as well as your iTune, Napster, Clickgroove download sites. This ‘butterfly’ is going global!

Be assured the Futuristica Music’s head honcho will be playing out both tracks when he’s out DJing this week. First off at Saturn Radio on Wednesday with Richard E & Phabius, Thursday in Leeds with Simon Harrison at Abstract Soul and Friday at Dial’s 5th Birthday at The Pool with Andy Newcombe, Abi Clarke (Soul Jazz), Norman Anderson and Toni Blackbeard.

After all that, I’m going for some vibe change dancing lessons. Brilliant.
