The Berlin-based label Best Works Records is collaboration between the producer and DJ Andre Lodemann and the Best Seven’s head honcho Daniel W. Best and for the first release of 2010, they’ve got the good sense to release a new track by Eva Be.

Following on from her last 12, ‘Trippin’ with Eva Be’ and her album of a couple of years ago Moving Without Travelling, you’ll remember the track ‘She Walks Alone’ from the featuring Pegah Ferydoni was one of the many stand-out selections.

Well here’s a Berlin style flip on it as the Andre Lodemann remix that takes the reggae beat into deep house. Ferydoni’s vocals are reduced to no more than the occasional “Feels so right, Feels so wrong’ and the synth boogie has a disco-dub about it but the track builds with “Flying High” strings up to its climax. Even at 8 minutes long, it’s not even long enough- could we get John Morales to do an extended remix?

Not only do we love ‘She Walks Alone’, there’s a ‘New Crack’ in the house. Eva’s still big on her reggae-dub influences and in true ‘Best Seven’ tradition, ‘New Crack’ is electro-warped (get this) 4×4 Franco-Italo space dub! Darko Esser (DJ & Producer from Nijmegen, Holland) who remixed King Roc’s ‘A Pocket Full Of Prose’ gets busy on a ‘Fresh Rock Mix’ (sounds like a fast tempo ambient house dub to me).

All three tracks are fantastic and as a DJ, just put them in a mix and have a dance with the crowd whilst they are playing (well that’s what I’ll be doing anyway) and as Valentine’s Day is upon us, yes, I love Eva Be. And luckily for her, I’m not the only one - we all love Eva Be!
