Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Whilst the Drumattic Twins are drum obessives, it’s all about the rhythm for the Filthy Duke boys who are joined by Samuel Dust (the singer with Late Of The Pier) that’s given them a bit of a this years’ Hot Chip about them even though ‘This Rhythm’ was a underground hit a couple of years ago. The Filthy Dukes started out as the DJ pairing of Olly Dixon and Tim Lawton who were joined by Mark Ralph and they started messing up hot indie tracks like The Rakes ‘22 Grand Job’, The Maccabees’ ‘X-Ray’ (big tune at Bestival in 2006 ) as well as One-Two’s ‘O-Hot Brain’ (see review HERE). One-Two years on and they are the ones getting some heavyweight remixes on the case with Fred Falke (50% of synth-pop disco kings Alan Braxe & Fred Falke), DC’s Emporer ‘Repetition’ Machine and the dirtiest dubsteppa, Toddla T (with a manic ska-out from Serocee). And if that’s not enough, more are promised to be available for download from the Filthy Dukes’ hompage from next month. That said, the FD’s own Blue Monday meets Donna Summeresque ‘Kill Em All’ mix and the album version are just as good and as a note for any geeks out there, the forthcoming album Nonsense In The Dark was recorded on Kraftwerk’s mixing desk! No doubt the spirit of Conny Plank is with these guys Reviewed: Filthy Dukes - This Rhythm (Fiction) Cat. No: FILTHY5 Release date: February 2009 Links: |
