Hot on the heals of Danny Krivit’s 718 Sessions mix CD, another DJ legend from the New York clubs like Warehouse, Loft and the Gallery turns up at Nervous Records.

On this mix compilation, there are loads of fast paced gospel house anthems with inspirational hooks and lines; just get your fix of these; “Faith is your power”, “He moves in mysterious ways”, Live your life”, “You have a purpose”; and that’s just in the first three tracks!

Motivation Too is the follow up to his 2002 Motivation set. Knuckles (aka The Godfather of House) has moved on from being distracted by the lucative remixe appeal of the great and popular (Diana Ross, Pet Shop Boys and the like) and has picked artists that have the soul and spirit of Darryl Pandy and remixes by safe hands like The Shapeshifters.

If you’re into Big Brooklyn Red’s ‘He Moves’ that’s big house swing with big piano break solo and the gospel chorus, you’re going to love all of this CD as Michelle Weeks has ‘A Purpose’ and Toney Jones spreads love across the land; you get the idea.

I’m not saying that this CD mix is obvious, repeative or old hat - quite the opposite. It puts the uplift back into uplifting house; and the funk, and the jazz and the gospel and soul.

European fans with recognise The Shapeshifter (on the remix), Jon Cutler’s ‘One’ from a couple of years ago (does he still own the Lock Tavern?) and diva of the highest order, Jocelyn Brown but dare I say Xavior out does her on the second Deep Swing track, or even Twinkie Clark’s choir!

Don’t forget, back in the day, he linked up Robert Owens and notably produced the House Classics, ‘Tears’ and ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’ whilst since 2004, Detroit have been celebrating August 26th as Frankie Knuckles Day.

You are special, you are fabulous, you have a purpose, Frankie Knuckles is perfectly formed to DJ and with a world tour to promote the CD, this guy is motivated - Frankie Knuckles always!
