Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Frisco is a member of the Boy Better Know crew who has release two mixtapes, Back 2 Da Lab Vol. 1 and, unsurprisingly, Vol. 2. Taking four choice tracks, this EP selection features his touring pals Skepta and J.M.E. along with Big Dada’s Wiley. The big tune is ‘Aiya Napa Story’ that is a timing reminder of the perils of sun, sambuca and a Cypriot jail. Don’t get involved and learn lessons from what you know yourself; as true in 2006 as it will always be. Taking the same theme, ‘Same Shit Different Day’ has the line, “It hurts me to say, that I grew up in a place where I saw more shots than Match Of The Day”. When the chattering left talk more about the need for black kids to have role models that aren’t chain wearing gang members and how music encourages gang wars, you know it’s the silly season again (along with Hitler’s record collection the other week!). Cameron would probably put the braggin’ ‘Fully Grown’ in his “bad influence” category but he should listen to the lyrics a little harder. Frisco and Wiley get at it on ‘Can’t Test Me’ with my favourite line, “Me with no mic is like a bike with no chain” with tabla beats provided by Plastican. Future releases are planned to showcase new talent like Jammer, Badness and Terror Danjah but for now, this 12” retrospective is promising start. 1. Fully Grown (Clean) feat.
