Future Loop Foundation, in the guise of Mark Barrott, formed this idealised view of life from the reminisces of family audio and cine home tapes recorded in the 70s that he expertly weaved into the fabric of last years’ album, Memories From A Fading Room. First up are the former heads of Radio 1’s Blue Room Show, Rob da Bank (now more associated with his own Radio 1 shows, Sunday Best, the award winning Bestival festival and now, a sister Bestival at the start of the summer at Lulworth Castle, Dorset debuting this July) and boffin of the Balearics and CafĂ© Del Mar culture, Chris Coco. No surprise they’re happy to hear the kids’ nursery rhythm that’s gets sandwiched with some spacey synths with acoustic guitars garnish (see below the Video). Talking of folks that know all about festivals, now former Big Chill founder (breaking news reported on FLY HERE in February) prepares for his future project as Pastor of the Sunshine Philosphy. Clearly this is the equivalent of his Sunday morning sermon from the big book of Chilled By Nature; an excellent soundtrack for some mellow reflection. Dorset definitely looks like the place to be this year as Pete’s other gig, Chilled Cider is on for the 4th time at The Square and Compass (see links below). Just to round things off, if you’ve not yet encountered Kirk Degiorgio and The Beauty Room, well now is an ideal time any. Kirk’s place in UK electronic history goes back to the late 80’s and his label, Applied Rhythmic Technology brought to us such future luminaries as Carl Craig, Black Dog and Photek. Also worth checking out Kirk’s warm house sound on New Religion work (particularly ‘Don’t You Know’ as featured on Hectic’s ‘Unorthodox Mix 1’ and ‘EP4’) but this remix of ‘Everything As It Should Be’ is more indo-classical-chill-out; a totally beautiful experience as the room itself. And that’s not all! Just Music release a proper double album to follow this called The Fading Room: Memories & Remixes due out on at the end of this month on the 28th with a gig in Prague the next day at The Roxy with Jupiter String Quartet. By all accounts the FLF ‘return home’ gig at Sheffield’s Music and Film Festival ‘Sensoria’ a couple of weeks ago was the place to be so hopefully the Prague gig won’t be the last opportunity to see the live show.
