Ghost - 'It's All Love' / 'Ying Yang' |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. ‘It’s All Love’ is a surprisingly strange but catchy breaks-US garage bank nugget mix. The Jim Morrison on helium vocal is very different to the usual Breakin’ Bread but then again, totally understandable in the crate diggin’ world. Equally unexpected is Ghost’s take on tech-house via ‘Ying Yang’. With some of those influences I was talking about in the review of ‘Basic Instinct’ he’s not held back here and gone cinematic 4/4. He says he wanted to “step outside of the pigeon holes of being a UK hip hop producer” and he’s certainly done that. Now there’s going to be the predicable fan-backlash (even Daedelus got some for the appropriately entiteld ‘Fair Weather Friends’ EP) but true fans that have stuck with Ghost since his first release in 2002, Ghost Stories will understand he’s aways been inovative and his disire for progression since the top selling Seldom Seen Often Heard of last year. It looks like 2008 is going to be another big year for the spirit that is Ghost. Reviewed: Ghost — It’s All Love / Ying Yang (Breakin’ Bread) Cat. No: BNB 037 Vinyl 7” 45RPM Links: |
